Dave that is actually a scratch box, not a box call. There is a difference
Lol...and I thought getting shot was about the only danger in turkey hunting
I've had that happen too:twisted:

I've told the story before on here, but here is the Cliff notes version of what happened:
Public land, hunting a big hammock dead in the middle of a very large block. Only a couple ways to even get in there, and from different roads.......and a very long walk either way (1mile minimum)
I had been watching this flock for a couple weeks before season and had them patterned. Opening weekend I couldn't close the deal on the first 2 days
Day three I knew where the birds would be at some point. About 9AM I hear them coming down the creek. I got up to move about 50 yards because I knew right where they were going to walk. I found a blow down and sat on the ground behind it and rested the gun on it, aiming down the creek run. I can hear them, but they are just out of sight. I see a blue head pop up thru the brush and move L to R..
Then I see 6 blood red heads pop up together. They are at about 50 yards and closing, al I need to do is stay off the trigger for another few seconds till they close the distance
At that point, unbenounced to me...there was someone else working this flock. He had come in to the hammock from "the other way". Had the swamp been wet, he would not have been there. neither one of us knew each other were there. I am not sure what he shot at, but I never saw a turkey flop and never saw him pick up a bird. Not sure if he shot amongst the flock of 6, or had another bird he could see and I couldn't...or if he shot a hen. No Idea. Luckily for me, I had on heavy clothes because it was cold, and I had my head down on the gun stock...because i got absolutely peppered. Not like getting rained on in a dove field, but peppered. When I realized I still had both eyes, I was still alive, and wasn't bleeding I jumped up and yelled...turkeys were flying everywhere. I couldn't see the guy for a few minutes. Finally I saw him get up and walk away. I hollered a couple times and he never quit walking
Woa..scary. Bad situation to get into to.
Easily done though I guess.
You just hope the guy on the other end follows the rules..which in your case he must not have.
