Yea thats super early 😆 thats about when im walking in too. It starts getting gray out around 6:50 or so
Guess I should have checked the weather before scheduling my last weekend down here. Worked Sat. on some bids and got up Sunday at 3 and it was pouring. Decided to skip it and will have to wait another year for an Osceola. Gonna head to the lease this Wed. afternoon and get in late. Should get in 3 mornings before calling it a year. I've got a blind set up where I've seen some strutting sign but have only had a lone hen come in at 7:30 to my dekes each morning so far. Got a tom gobbling to me every morning about 100 yds. just on the other side of our property but after flydown he goes the other way every time. :censored That hen goes the same way as the tom. I'm thinking of either calling real hard when he starts up in the morning or looking for another bird. Just hate to waste 3 more mornings on a bird that's running the other way every morning.
No :sheet :dtect j/k 😆 He's just off our property and doesn't cross over. He heads through a small piece of woods and hits a cow field on the other side I think. I've got a few other spots where they used to roost but they clear cutted some of the property in Feb. and just not sure where they are now. I'm jonesing to get my 1st and hate to waste time on a bird I'm not sure I can bring over. :taz I'm still trying to figure this out.
Good luck to you also. :toast
Got to my blind this morning and set out the decoys about 15 till 7. 5 min later my Tom gobbles. Let him gobble a few times and then throw out a couple of clucks. He gobbles back. Wait a couple min and cluck again and he cuts me off. Wait a few more min and give him a flydown cackle and he goes off so I shut up. Gobbles a couple more times and sounds like he's getting closer and then nothing. Have yelped every 20 min since and nothing. My buddy hasn't heard anything yet. Sitting and being patient...........
