If you can make a noise on a mouth call you can eventually learn to run it. I personally have to use youth mouth calls because my palate is small and the normal size calls dont seal right. If air is coming out from around the sides of the call trim it down and then try. You dont have to know how to make every call in the turkeys vocabulary on a mouth call. Start by learning how to cluck. You can work a gobbler in with another type call and then when hes close a couple soft clucks should close the door on him. The best piece of advice I can give you is if you sit down to a roosted gobbler and he answers you and you know hes answered you then put the calls down and do not say another word to him until hes on the ground. Its extremely tempting to keep calling so he keeps gobbling because we hunt them to hear them gobble, but he will sit there in the tree waiting on that hen to come to him gobbling his head off and normally he will gobble up a hen or 2 or3 and go the other direction. Took me along time to learn that one because I love to hear them gobble but I also like smashing there heads and drowning there breast in hot oil from time to time.
