Did anyone have any luck taking a youth turkey hunting? If so how was it ? I took a friend of mine son this past weekend and he killed a monster bird. His first ever. I believe I got more excited during that hunt with him them I ever have. It was a lot of fun to see how excited he got. Def something I'll never forget. How did yalls hunts go?
Set up A nice blind Friday for my fidgety 12 year old, myself and my 8 year old. Saturday morning 5:55 am see flashlights setting up 20 yards from my blind. I wasnt to bothered until daybreak when the incessant calling started and didnt stop until 11:30 when I saw them leaving. Heard a few other yelps in the distance but they stayed distant. So I figure Saturday A.M they would know better and relocate, they did to about 60 yards away and the same 4-6 minute calling style. I could see a group of birds across the fence line but they had no desire to cross at that point. I feel bad for my boys but we had a great father sons weekend. AND we still have 5 weeks to get em some birds.
A good friend took his son to his lease and he concluded his season limit in 2 days. A 9 7/8, and a Jake in 2 days
I'm taking my 10 year old cousin tomorrow. I know where a few are that are hot so maybe he can shoot straight and everything goes well.

I thought you all would like to know that Andrew Bennett's very first Spring turkey hunt was successful on the first morning. Hunting near Gainesville with his cousin Drew Halvorson, he shot this turkey at about twenty yards with a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with 3" magnums. It was the first time that Andrew has ever fired a 12 gauge. The turkey had a 9 1/2" beard. Andrew was 8 years and 1 day old when he shot this turkey.
