Im in my ground blind now. Just killing an hour before i get to work on my food plot. Just heard birds fly down but they aren't talking
Went out this morning to listen and hear 3 toms firing off like crazy and the were all hened up first thing. I want to add that everyone wants to make the perfect call and gets upset when they mess up while calling. The thing to keep in mind when calling is the it doesn't always have to be a perfect tone because on more times than not you'll hear a hen with the more messed on call and if you didn't know it you would think that it was a very inexperanced hunter. Heard one of those this morning.
:saluting
Yep the worst sound I've heard in the woods was a real hen. A hen turkey will never win a calling contest. That said the rythm and cadence is always the same.
The owls got fired off at 7:30 and I heard one gobble so far off I couldn't even tell you what direction it was. My camera SD card filled up on the 9th of this month, but I had turkey pics every day before that
The woods still look like winter. Only the low stuff is just barely beginning to turn green. All the tree tops are still bare. Right on schedule. the red buds are just starting to bloom. By this time last year my redbuds had already bloomed and were full of leaves
Thats good news. Hopefully the turkeys will act right all season.
