New products from the shop (cluttered up garage)
For the scratch box, I've settled on mahagony with cedar soundboard. Much crisper and louder. But I'm waiting on a black walnut to dry up...

There are sites where you can order the wood from. Lots of call making sites sell the blank stock. I made a double glass pot call last year. It looks like hell but I finally got it tuned and purring like a kitten with a certain homemade striker. I gave it to my son for his b-day and plan to use it strictly on the youth hunt
Yep..you can find tons of turning blanks online from woodcraft sites. I just got one each of birdseye maple, orange osage, bocot, purpleheart, and zebrawood in 2*2*12 in pieces. I can get 2 scratchboxes out of each of those size blanks. Already got a birdseye maple glueing up and it LOOKS awesome...hope it sounds as good.
The pot calls you can get precut...just gotta sand em up and finish them. Glue in the soundboard and whatever friction top you wanna use.
I'd like to get a small lathe and turn my own so I can play with dimensions...pedestal height for soundboards for one to hear the difference it makes.
There's a shop close by that specializes in hardwoods and exotics. They get pieces of stuff used in construction. Cabinet/furniture/home and boat building. I've been getting all my mahogany from them, they have tons of that. (and cedar)
