No such thing as a dumb question in my eyes. I ask tons of them, even if they are common sense to most.
Good point about dirt in the cavity though. I guess I'm thinking of a sanitary perspective, keeping the whole thing clean it all times.
You won't learn if you don't ask. I'd buy a four wheeler if I could afford one,or even one of them shiny game carts.Drop the guts and you lose 25 lbs quick.
I age my game. So i really don't want bacteria growing. I keep ribs allot or give them to friend who want them
with deer I would cut the lower part of the legs off and tie the uppers together where the animal was found so they wouldn't get caught on every branch being drug past. if an extremely long/hard drag I would gut just the belly and leave from the diaphram up intact just to lighten it up a bit. down here in the water and soil theres a lot more bacteria and heat to worry about so being a bit of a germaphobe I would prefer to leave things intact until ready to do the total cleaning.
There is another option to do. I can't explain it, but can show and there is probably videos on how to do it.
But you make slits in the skin to expose the tendons in the front legs, stick the back legs thru the slits, and wear the animal like a back pack
