Went out to Citrus yesterday afternoon with my son. First thing we see after getting geared up is 2 hikers come out of the trail we were planning to go down just chatting up a storm. Oh well, maybe they scared something up. Before we leave the truck out come 4 more. Oh well, we worked that area for a while anyway. As we are coming out we run into another hunter going in and chat for a couple minutes. Here come more hikers. The other guy says they have been running around all day, some kind of scavenger hunt or something.
We pack up and move to a different area a mile or so away and go in. 45 minutes later we hear voices, another group of hikers looking for their "prize" :eek We watch which way they go and head a different direction to get back to the truck as darkness is not too far away by now.
We come out of the woods and are heading back on a woods road when we come upon this group of 10 maybe 12 hogs in the road ahead. They are out of range so we start stalking them to get within range. They looked our way a couple times without spotting us. I figure we should be about 5 yards closer to have a good shot when one looks our way. I freeze but my son didn't see him looking at us. We get spotted, they spooked and ran. We tried to track them to no avail.
Oh well, at least we finally saw something. So I know there really are hog out there, just gotta find them again. Next time.
I remember hunting in Lower Suwanne one time,I was way in there sitting next to a tree when I started hearing some noise. As it got closer my heart dropped,about 10 douche bags in blaze orange,all toting hi-powered rifles came marching thru like a military unit. Reading maps and yacking it up the entire time,they just kept on going right by me.Thanks for reminding me why I pretty much gave up on public land.
Why does this not surprise me about citrus 😆
