Chazz
GENERAL GUN HOG-DOG SEASON:
January 15-17 and 22-24.

Croom
SMALL GAME SEASON:
December 7 through March 7

Was thinking of Croom--heard alot of "negative" things about "civilians" in the area and worried about collateral damage 😉 Thanks for the tips...

check out citrus wma, not to far from you. I liked it and would go with but am trying to get on some private land. don't bother going to the check out staion or looking for a card/pass to fill out , it's closed and there are none, also no cleaning station so you are on your own. just make sure you have your license and wma permit. no centerfire rifles! as far as I could determine slugs and buckshot are ok , you can take hogs and small game til 3/3/10? some of the trails south of stagecoach are deeply washed out so def 4wd you can probly get thru most of them but a few would be real challenging, so don't take it to fast, some of them are a bit narrow if youre worried about scratching the paint. you could go to croom also in about the same amount of time. I did a real quickie thru there one morn and seem to prefer citrus, but didn't get to spend a hell of alot of time in either.

citrus wma lies east of 491 (lecanto hwy) and west of 581 ( mt pleasant rd), borders rt 44 on the north and maybe 2 mi south of stagecoach rd (480) on the south. alot of real old/large live oaks around stage pond, alot of acorns and hickoty nuts on the ground, heard alot of squirel hunters shooting there, and an easy walk in (from the trailhead, not fire road) just east of the small cemetery next to fire rd # 11 on the south side of stagecoach rd (480). or be daring and 4wd the fire rds back there but beware trails can get rough and cell phone reception is sketchy.
