Trapper Dan is an honest operation.
What does a hunt cost up at Trapper Dan's place? I have some folks at my church I'd like to take on a hunt.
Pics to come...
I guess he got attacked by a vicious boar hog...

Nah... Just was busy yesterday. I'll tell the story later this evening...
So after taking the "scenic route" we got there about 2:30 on Saturday. As we were going to our stands, we see the pig group of hogs layed up in a clump of woods. I said to myself, I knew it was canned, but didn't think it was like this. Anyway. I got setup in a ladder stand and after climbing up, I knew it would be a little bit of a challenge since there was so much brush and limbs in the way. I kinda preferred that. A little while later I saw a group of hogs moving behind me, but way to deep in the brush. I ended up sitting another 2 hours before I saw anything. Then I catch some movement coming down a trail. There were 5 or 6 in this group ranging from over 100lbs to around 40lbs. I chose one that was medium sized and had a reddish color. As they passed they were moving in front and next to each other. I didn't want to shoot more than 1. As they got behind some thicker brush, I heard a shot on the other side of the property. They decided to turn around and go back to where they came from. This time they walked in a single file line and I blasted the red one.
Then I heard 2 more shots. Then we called the guy to come load them up. As the guy is coming to pick me up, I see my buddies with their already loaded up. There's one hog on the cart that getting bigger and bigger as they get closer. I can see on my friends face that he wasn't especially happy about shooting one that big since it cost $1/lb for any hog greater than 100lbs.
As we're driving out we see this little hog with a broken leg. I think to myself, uh oh! Who did that. Well it turned out that my firefighter buddy got a little trigger happy and accidentally gut shot a blonde hog and wounded a second one. We ended up shooting the wounded one and loading it up as well.
We get back to the skinning rack and weigh the big one. 180lbs. ($160 hog) It did have a nice set of whetters. About 2" long. No cutters. They were either ground down or broken.
The others were all under 100lbs each. Total for the day was 4 hogs. We got the big one quartered and packed there and took the rest home to save the processing fee. We also taught my friend how to butcher a hog. Didn't get to bloody him up since it was too late. But, we'll get him with his first deer.
Here's all of them. From right to left 40lbs, 75-80lbs, 95lbs and 180lbs.
All in all it was a pretty good time. My buddies learned some lessons that cost them a few bucks. Some lessons are learned the hard way. But we all had a good time.
I would go back to take my daughter to shoot one. But I probably wouldn't go back just myself. I think I like the challenge of WMA hunting even if I don't get anything.
