Finally started seeing signs of hogs again about 2 weeks ago. The game trail showed fresh hoof prints in the mor ning and then saw a sounder of 5 hogs next days late in the evening. I let them pass as I was looking to shoot a small one of 40-60 lb. with my wife's 22 magnum rifle but I didn't see one that size. Next moring I saw a sounder of 5 hogs headed directly towards me that were all in 40-60 lb range so I shot the front one that was about 50lb. in the right eye from about 40 yards with the 22 magnum... a one shot immediate kill at that distance. Then yesterday I shot a 120 lb. sow out of a sounder of about 15 hogs... this time with the 45-70.
Shooting a hog in the head with a .22WMR is one of the most fun things that life provides! That's my gun of choice in the summer as it is plenty power and it isn't so loud that everyone in 15 miles hears it
at 50 yds you can shoot thru a lifesaver with one. great caliber.
