My friend from high school, now lives in Alaska, is in town and had been asking me to take him hunting. He never hunted at all down here and has gotten into hunting a bit in the last few years in AK. He had never seen a "wild boar", much less killed one.
We left day after Christmas and hit the woods soon as we got there. I loaned him my 30-30 so he wouldn't have to fly a gun down here. He was the only one of the 4 of us that saw any game.First afternoon he had a run down sow and pigs hang around. I was proud eh took the initiative to pass
Second morning he saw a doe, turkeys and some more very small pigs. Again not shooting.
Friday afternoon I put him in my hot stand, and at 5PM the herd came a running. Not big ones, but he picked out the biggest of the herd and put one betweent he eyes..DRT
I texted him and asked if he needed the 4 wheeler and he said yes.
15 minutes later we were on the way to the house with his first big game kill. Not a big one by any means, but he couldn't have been happier.
Sadly, he came down with the flu afterwards and never got out of bed yesterday(he wasn't feeling well to start off with). Lmao. Guess we'll all have it now

Me on the left, the killer on the right

Hey he wasn't paying some high priced guide for some "Wild pig hunt". He came went out with a buddy and had a weekend of a lifetime hunting with a friend and was able to kill a hog after passing ethically on several chances. anytime that you can go out with a friend and bring home the bacon it's a good weekend. I've carried an Iraq war buddy hunting because he had never gone hunting before and he has killed more than I have this year. My freezer is not empty I just enjoy bring a new face to hunting. Yesterday was my turn to bring home the bacon, venison in the cooler.

:saluting

We are gonna process it tomorrow, and he is actually going to fly the meat back to Alaska. He is going to buy a cooler to pack it in, and since it's a small hog I am going to give him a bunch of extra I already have packaged to take so he will have a full cooler. He said his family back home is already chomping at the bit to try it as they don't have hogs up there (lucky them)
