always heard it as .22 mag, first time i saw anyone say wmr, got it, thanks
WMR = Winchester Magnum Rimfire
I'm thinking hard about getting something chambered in this round. Might hold out until the Keltec PMR-30 is more available. It's a semi-auto pistol with a double-stacked mag holding 30 rounds of .22WMR!
We will get the rest of them and hopefully won't have to clean em in the rain next time. Had a great time as did my step son. Thanks for the invite Big Papa_J. Nice hogs and exceptionally clean and healthy ones. We waited and watched for a few hours and decided it wasn't happening. 30 minutes later after arriving back at the casa, the phones a ringing and off to clean hogs we went.
.22 WMR (Mag) - perfect for this scenerio. I have a Ruger 77/22 in .22 LR and another in .22 WMR (Mag) both of which need to go to the range to get sighted in, just put new Bushnell 3200 3x9x40's on them. I had my .243 Rem 700 with us since that was the smallest caliber rifle I had sighted in.
.22 LR and .22 WMR (Mag) are both rimfire rounds. Abit smaller than a .22 Hornet but IMHO much easier and cheaper to find ammo for and the .22 WMR will get the job done as well as the Hornet.
Now had we been walking and stalking through the cover these hogs came out of, I would have had my .44 Mag instead. IMHO you've gotta have at least two or three guns for hogs based upon the area, cover, and scenerio. The area and cover is definately .44 Mag carbine country.
Good deal fellas, killing some pigs means its time to party. Nothing makes for a better summer day than good barbecue, good people and good cold beer. BTW that .22 mag will kill anything that walks the continent if shot properly.
the 22 mags are nice and can be had in a revolver also, had one in the ruger single six convertable and sold it but would like one in a 9 shot revolver. also some wma small game areas for hogs its rimfire/shotgun or muzzleloader. I can hit a dime every time at 50 ydswith mine but groups open up to 1 1/2" at 100 and are affected by wind more. also prices are soaring 10+$ at wallyworld for the cci 22 maximag stingers in 40gr and good luck finding the hollow points. paid 15$ for a box of 50 hp's cuz they were the only ones who had em.
