I prefer the cci solid points for just about everything. Those hp's really destroy the squirrels and ive had em splash on hogs necks and heads. The fmj is a penetration monster, ive shot old bulls at 70 or 80 yards and it go through the front of the skull and lodge in the back.
I shoot the Remington 40 grain jhp's, and they seem to do the trick. I can't say that the lead head hp's would, but I've never used em. I bought a couple boxes 2 years ago, and I paid $12 for a 50ct box. At 24 cents each, I ain't complaining. It's not like I'm out there blowing through a couple boxes every weekend. That's what they make 22LR for.
And like you, Nacho, I have the Ruger single 6 convertible. I inherited it from my gramps. It's an original 3 screw model. The bluing has seen better days, and there are a couple dings on the grips, but it's been a reliable and well used classic. In fact, it was the first gun I shot at 10 years old.
Nice Job! :gba
