The ground will be "rooted" or torn up. Thats the biggest sign that the hogs are there and living nearby.. they love to tear up any form of plantlife.

Unless it is agricultural ( planted fields ) I don't hunt where a hog has been rooting. Follow the other signs tree rubs and wollers especially in the dry spells, if you find a woller you will get you a hog.
