We were about 3 miles from the truck following some fresh tracks when we herd some hogs in the palmettos. Soon after they winded us and ran deeper into the thick cover. We looked around to see if we could flank them and sure enough their was a fire break running behind were they ran. So we quickly headed that way only to find another hunter with a bow waving his arms. He said he shot at one and missed it. He decided he would try to push them to us since he didn't stand much of a chance anymore. So Kempster and I headed down the fire break to cut them off. Kempster was first and I was about 80 yards behind him. Soon we could hear the hogs crashing threw the palmettos. I headed towards kempster and closed the gap between us (40) yards. They sounded like they right in front of him. Then this hog popped his head out about 10 feet in front of me. He spotted me before I could pull the trigger and ran back into the cover. I heard him stop not far into it so I ran into the palmettos and there he was running away from me. BOOM neck shot. Neither of us heard this pig. The rest of them hit a clearing and smoked us, never to be seen again. We hunted in the evening also and found some fresh rooting and tracks but didn't see anything. We definitely put some miles on!!!! And yes the place was a mad house.
