Looking for hog bow hunts around Seminole county and wondered if anyone has hunted Lake Monroe WMA. myfwc.com has no harvest data so even though its close to home would I be more successful heading to Green Swamp or Three Lakes.
lake monroe usually has a lot of hunters ,tree stands everywhere,if you can get in there off the river you may have better luck
I was there last year at the end of general gun. There is alot of tape in the trees I can tell you that, trails hacked into the brush all over the place. I seen alot of fresh hog sign all over, there is an overgrown orange grove at the north end that it still producing. I would feel alot safer during archery than general gun season as it does get packed. We did end up jumping a good size deer out of its bedding area but got no shot on it. I have thought about coming in from the river side but do not feel comfortable leaving my boat tied up while stalk hunting. Perhaps in the middle of the work week would be a better time to visit.
I agree with TCR, Papaj and I hunted Monroe a few times last year and saw alot of hog sign, saw a couple does, and killed a big old racoon. We ran into other hunters every time we were in there. I'd be interested in coming in from the river side and stalking for hogs or hunting during the week. I think that's your best chance...
Thanks for the info. Sounds like it might be worth heading out to Lake Monroe. Good call on going out during the week. Any other locations around Seminole county I should look for bow hunting hogs?
