First of all, thank you for reading and commenting

I am planning to purchase a little 5 gallon bucket size feeder and put it on where pigs been showing up very often and rooted as well.

I heard when the pigs get used to with sound of feeder, they will show up everytime when the feeder goes off. Is this true?

And how long should I leave that feeder and hogs so they can get used to it?

Thank you very much

From what I understand it will be a dinner bell for them. If they are already using the area it should not take long for them to fig. it out.

They do get conditioned to correlate the sound of the feeder as a dinner bell. However, human pressure or other feed sources can drastically change their routine.

One of my stands, I have a spot where I throw corn on the ground every single time i go in there. I carry it in a small bucket. The sound of the corn rattling in the bucket was like a dinner bell to them. I had, on several occasions, hogs running out and eating the corn before I could turn around and get in my stand.

Today I walked into another of my stands. My feeder went off @7:35. At 7:37 I had a hog running to the feeder. Unfortunately I didn't play the wind correctly and he spooked before I could get a shot

The pigs will certainly come to the sound as long as they associate it with feed and not with danger.
Years ago I would get home from high school and take the tractor to feed the cows. We found that the hogs would wait in the woods until they heard the tractor go away and then they would come out to feed. When we wanted to kill one, Pa would drop me off and drive the tractor back to the barn. As soon as he was gone the hogs would come out and I would shoot one.

Thank you guys for good infos and advice.

I found two good spots to place feeders at this place. And by the way, I miss my shot last night...

We were danger close to the pigs while they were rooting edges of pond and I took a shot with my bow and heard squealing but didnt find any blood or anything... So I guess I scraped him but didnt really hit any vital....(I was sooooooo pisssssed....)
