triball and buckshot is gutshot, don't do it, 5 slugs!
the sbe is a semi auto, and 3- balls vs 15 in oo buck I thought was a good compromize between buckshot and slug, I don't want gutshot/ buckshot either. ( I had concerns about that myself ) and I got these 3 1/2" tri-balls at a steal for 9$ for 5 delivered after a little schmoozing, a lot cheaper than the 13$ for 5 of sabots, plus I can use them in a smoothbore without scope and heavy rifled barrel so it's even lighter and handier. thanks for responding, I think everything will work just fine. hope to connect and let the proof be in the pudding whatever thats supposed to mean.
I tried the cheap 2 3/4" rifled slugs thru my smooth bore and got a good group at 50 yd's, approx the size of my hand, but it was at least 10" high and left and theres only a bead on that bbl. at 40 yds the tri-ball had 2 touching dead center and the 3rd about 7 inches low. all I have to do is connect with one of those balls in a vital area as each is 61.5 caliber and 315 grains at 1100+ fps, so I'll try em and see. hopefully will have something to shoot at other than paper. after a long talk with the mfg he recomended if the gun has a 3 1/2" chamber to use 3 1/2" ammo as it would get better reliability and max fps and recoil isn't gonna be much worse than the 2 3/4". I used 2 3/4's for many years before I bought the beneli and took plenty of deer with them including my longest shot ever ( with open rifle type sights ). I have a few sets of millet open adjustable rifle type sights I was planning on putting on a mdl 12 project someday.
use the fiber optic stick on or magnetic sights, usually less than $20 to make your smooth bore more accurate with slugs or any other shot...sinece trying it I have put one on all shotguns.

it already comes with some type of fiber optic like bead/tube. and the recoil was much less than expected, with a payload of over 2 oz's, guess it's because they are moving at a " slow " 1100 fps, the 3 1/2" turkey loads kick much harder. didn't want to lug the heavy cumbersome rifled bbl and scope for 20 yd shots.the cheap rifled slugs I tried were the winchesters, havent tried the rem sluggers yet, maybe they will shoot better for me.
