Interestingly enough, if you can find a sow over 150#, she is more than likely NOT pregnant. The butcher I used to go to in Mayo, Fl told me that. He said it was very rare to see one pregnant that big. The subject came up because I took one in there that was over 200#, and I was sure she was full of pigs. He told me "doubt it" and gutted her right there. No pigs. Best pork I ever ate off that hog. I guess when they get that big they can push most of the boars off of them. When a herd comes in now, I always try to scope out the biggest sow in the bunch and shoot that one. A big good and fat sow is hard to pass up....man that didn't sound right :tung

Going out there in a few just to see if they are taking the same route each day.
There is one I think has a infected gun shot wound and if I see that one tonight i'll probably take it out. My cousin made a long shot on one a few weeks ago and hit it far back and it ran off after spinning around in circles a few times. I have been seeing one on the camera that has a big lump on its rear 1/4. Hard to tell for sure if that is what it is but it has gotten bigger over the last few weeks so I think he may of hit it and now it's infected.

i'll post back if I take a shot or even see them tonight..

I don't pass on them ever, many times I will quarter them and drop them in a cooler. Many people are hard up for meat and a friend of mine was struggling after a layoff and although she is working now the pork and venison helps her fix up her home and catch up, she in turn manages to pass along much of what she doesn't need to others she knows who can use help. The folks I help are not draining our system with government handouts and everytime I can pop a few hogs figure I'm doing a double good dead, when I'm not being too lazy about it I cut them up and grind burger for them. I figure I give away close too 750# of venison and pork each year, along with untold fish and a few turkeys here and there.

Congrats. If your familiar with the old bull/ young bull story, you have just become the old bull. taking more than you need, or killing just to satisfy some kind of blood lust, or prove something is just wrong and kinda immature imo. If I had a ranch or farm & they were endangering my property or livestock I'd probably feel differently.
