They're some runners in there,you should do ok though. We always get a few everytime we go, Carlos stuck one in there with me a few years ago. I think next weekend I have Green Swamp,they changed that one to where it's during the week now instead of two weekends. My hunting truck is having some issues so I think I'm done for awhile. Some of my buddies have been hunting Mallory with pretty good success and all of there hogs have been runners. I think I am going back over there today just to ride around.
I would try avoiding running IN the river swamp. Not that it's bad... it's just if yall are on one side of it and they get across to the other side it is a long drive to get around to access it. The WMA is surrounded by dog leases and private leases. Avoid letting a dog get across a hwy or Bennett grade at all costs
Also there's a camp ground behind the store at 51/19. They have showers and I believe dog pens
I plan on hunting that big block between boundary dirt road 357 and 51 so I can try an keep the dogs on state property. I think we are going to camp there in tinnele with the kennels. Weather won't be to bad so I think we are going to have a good time.
Man we are tired. We had a great time over there this weekend. Hard hunting with the wind blowing so hard we couldn't hear the dogs most of the time. The hogs seemed to be more consintrated in one area which was crowded with hunters. Most seemed to be locals with a kid. Lol. We did find hogs in other areas and had a good time chasing them. We never closed the deal till we ran into a friend of mine who also got DRAWN for the hunt. We were happy to see some one else to run with trying to run these track star hogs with one truck is rediculious. Especially with the wind. Next year I will be trying to get drawn for this hunt we had a great time and learned a lot about the area. We stayed at the camp site there at Tennille, 19 & 51 great place to camp. Clean showers and bathrooms the host we very nice and accommodating. Cleaning station and kennels there also. Here is a pic of the Lone Ranger hog we knocked down with my buddie. A few shots were fired at him but when I cleaned him one buckshot to the heart was what got him.
