just curious has anyone ever fired buckshot specif 00 from a 12 ga rifled bbl? how did it perform, I'm sure it's not the optimun set up but shouldn't be the end of the world either.

I have no experience in the matter, but I doubt the grouping would be very good considering the short barrel. I know the grouping through my smoothbore Mossberg 20 G 24" slug barrel blows with anything other than slugs. I haven't shot bigger buckshot through it, but I've shot some of the smaller loads and was totally disappointed with the pattern, hardly grouped well enough for home protection IMO. I've also shot some No. 8 shot through it at some tree rats when I get bored of not shooting anything and being rained on all day....and it usually only puts 4-5 pellets in the squirrel when I'm standing almost right under the tree and it's maybe 25-30 foot up in the tree.

It might also foul up the rifling and mess up the sabot grouping....

Like I said though, I have no real experience with it.

It will ruin your rifling I would imagine.

I'm with John. It couldn't be good for it, right?
