I just received this e-mail from my wife who got it from someone else.
Evidently humans can and do get leprosy from armadillos.
I was told growing up that humans could not catch leprosy from armadillo because they were different strains of bacteria.
I guess the chances are remote but it could happen.

Some years ago National Geographic had an intresting article on armadillos and leprosy research. If my memory serves me, it was in Texas and one of the old men that was an "aramadillo catcher" ended up with leprosy after a period of time. We used to eat one now and then, poor man's pork! Treefarmer
They are great targets for short action caliber center fire rifles. One of my personal favorites is shooting them with an M1 Carbine in .30 Carbine, great round for Armadillos!!!
