I work with a guy that has one like that. He has to hold his belly button when he laughs or he says it pops out. He said his is not bad, but he knows he has to get it fixed.
You should go get it checked out to see what your options are. Oh, and stop reading the internet. It's all horror stories out there.
You can go to the health department and it shouldn't cost that much.

If you contact USF they may be able to help you out. I have a friend who lost his job/insurance and then proceeded to break his shoulder. The orthopedic surgeon he tried to make an appointment with wanted $500 up front just to see him. He went to the USF ortho and paid $50. Better deal :>)

I figured the health department can check you out and answer initial questions. They'll probably tell you to see a specialist anyway. Hope it turns out ok for you. I'm still planning on having you do my floors. Just need to finish tiles in the kitchen.
