So I have a 2002 F150. It's been real good overall, but she's getting tired. It's got 208,000+ miles on it.

In the last month I've replaced:

Thermostat
Water Pump
Radiator
Rebuilt Transmission

In the last year or so:

A/C
Heater Core
Whole Front end job
All 8 coil packs (or whatever Ford calls 'em)

It needs:

A good washing, LOL!!
Tires
It's showing an overheated cylinder code so I'm not sure what that's gonna lead to....

I really don't want NEW Truck payments or even USED truck payments... 😉

But, for the price of what a new engine will cost me I could trade it in and add that and get something newer.

What say you all?

Being an owner of a 2001 F150 with just over 140,000 miles......
From what you've posted you have invested quite a bit in this truck the past year. I would get a serious diagnosis on that overheated cylinder code before making any rash decisions. If you were to get a new engine how much are we talking? A new engine along with the rebuilt transmission and front end - you basically have "almost" new vehicle (imo). Good for another 100k miles? I'm looking down the road for my truck on the same thing. Thank God I haven't had any major issues lately. Keep us posted on everything!

Well, the tranny is running me $2600
My boss had a new motor put in, same one as me, a couple years ago and he paid around $6000 with labor.

That is high for an engine. More than the truck is worth. A friend of mine just sold his truck like mine (his was an '05 also with around 180k) and he got $5800 for it

I know. That's why I don't really want to put a motor in it.

I may be able to keep driving this thing or it might blow up on me on the 2 miles ride to the house from the shop. Who knows?
