Its like it never ends.

My truck has been running like crap for months now. What would happen is when im driving and about 2 hours into a trip (everytime on the way back from hunt camp) the truck would bog down and would not be able to go over 40 mph. Then i whould lug it home and turn it off an it would run fine the next day. So i did some research and i came up with my truck having a faulty ipdm.

So i went to the dealer and got the upgraded ipdm panel and installed it $550.00. The truck ran fine. (But i didnt go to hunt camp in that time for about 2 months). I did this work myself.

So its running fine and i start to smell anti freeze. I take it to my mechanic and he says my radiator is bad. Now to remind you all i put a new radiator in 2 years ago, and ANOTHER new one in last year. ALL OF THEM FAILED, and they were from THE DEALER!! first one i paid for since it was the first, the second one was covered from the dealer cause it fell into the one year warranty. The recent one went 2 months after the 1 year warranty so i had to pay $600.00 2 Weeks ago to get another NEW radiatior put in.

The Mechanic said it was electrolysis (the wrong anti freeze) that corroded the radiators and made them leak. So now i got a new radiator in.

On the way home from hunt camp my truck started bogging down and wouldn't go above 40 mph AGAIN!! remember i just bought the whole new ipdm that cost $550.00 to fix this. So im like WTF?????

I take it to the mechanic and obviously its running fine. So he puts a tester on the fuel pump does a scope, changes the trans fluid, rear end fluid, and does an oil change. this cost me $375.00. He says the fuel pump is good, and the trans fluid looked great, the rear end fluid needed to be changed. and he says theres no codes. So it might be something failing when it gets hott. The mechanic said that i need to being the truck in when its acting up so he can diagnose it and drive it at the time cause the dam truck would never do that when the mechanic was driving it.

So im driving yesterday and the truck had been running for about 2 hours (about the time the truck failed on the way back from hunt camp, always bout when i got to brooksville).

So i called the mechanic and said i was on the way cause i can barely drive. He got in it and drove it and BAM it bogged down and creeped to 20 mph. He then came back and said OH YEA this truck is un driveable. SO he took his laptop and put hooked it to a dyno and drove around with the computer in the truck reading the screen.

He comes back and says that the truck is getting too much air and not enough gas. SO im like its gotta be the fuel pump. SO he then hooks a fuel pressure gauge on it and runs the hose and gauge into the truck and drives around and then comes back and says that i lost all gas pressure up and down thats the problem. SO NOW ITS A NEW GASS PUMP.

SO now its gonna cost me $500.00 for a new gas pump installed.(and YES he has to drop the whole tank to do this)

Damit..
$550.00 for the Ipdm
$600.00 for the radiator.
$375.00 last week
$500.00 Gonna be paid today..

DAMIT>> DAMIT>>> over $2000.00 in 3 months.!!! DAMITTTTTTT!!!

Just went through the same with my wife's truck F 150 kept dying on her at the most opportune time. sitting at stop light on US 19 or 5:30am on way to work. I checked that thing from top to bottom for almost 4 months and never could make it act up. Finally talked to mechanic and he wouldn't even look at it since I had already checked more things than he was willing to go back and recheck. Ended up getting her another vehicle got tired of getting up at 4 am take her to work then going to pick her up. All this during hunting time. Finally
quit and turned out to be the coil so no spark went back and told the mechanic and he said better you then me having to wait that long.
Always something.

2K is certainly hard to swallow, but it beats a new truck payment for 5-6 years!

Few questions since I have an 05 Titan.

What type of anti freeze did you use? Did you mix with regular water? I was always told to use distilled water so it doesn't corrode the internals.
Have you changed your shocks and struts? I need to start with my struts and I'm wondering what can I expect to pay?
