Have flown many times with weapons and had issues flying with firearms prior to 9/11 and the new security procedures. Now, we always drive to go hunt and usually have two or three of us to share the expense of gas and tolls. We take everything and anything we want and have no issues... Don't think I'd ever fly again with my firearms unless it was absolutely necessary... GW your experience was a good one, consider yourself lucky, they can be a real pain in the azz and keep you for days.... Got held up in Miami one time in 1995, had all my ATF docs, forms, customs stuff, ect... and they screwed with me for almost 12 hours before figuring I was "released" to travel.

put on a panama hat and you'd look just like Tony Montona, they probably thought you were trying to smuggle in a couple of kilos

IMO profiling works better than what there doing now. they always seem to pull my 83 y/o mother in a wheelchair for a special search, like shes a real threat to national security, but she did give birth to me so? 35 lbs at birth complete with full mullet, flannel shirt and tats.
