The TSA and Customs SUCK!!!
I haven't tried travelling with any firearms/bows/ I did have to fly with an artists' easel in my duffel bag. I had attached a note, explaining what it was, etc. but it didn't help! When I got it open, they had broken several pieces and the hardware was lying loose inside the bag!

never flew United- guess I won't. Always had good luck with JetBlue. My problems have always been with TSA.
