I've had the BFGoodrich A/T's in 31x10.50 on my lifted van and had great success with them. They finally started cracking from dry rot last year after having been on the van since 5/07. I put a set of Dunlops on it and then it was totalled... Anyhow, I also had a set of the Cooper Discovers on a Landrover Discovery I had. I put those on in 2006 I believe and as far as I'm aware they are still on the truck. I gave it to my brother in law this past April. They needed to be changed when I gave him the truck though.
I'm currently running the General Grabber AT2's in 285/75R16 and I'm very satisfied so far. They run smooth and quiet. The pattern is a lot like the BFGs. I had them ordered from and installed at Wal-Mart for $873 including tax back in July 2012.
I am now running a set of Nitto Terra Grappler's 305/55/20. I really like these tires, they are quite, get good traction in the rain and offer decent off road capability. They do not sing going down the road and ride well on the highway at high speeds. Based on the wear so far +/- 10k miles, I expect I will get 50k to 60K out of them. I have heard good things about the Coopers though
Just went and got an oil change at a local Tires Plus. Told him to give me quote on tires. I wanted him to talk to me about the Cooper's. He was hell bent on pushing a Firestone AT on me. He is obviously a Firestone dealer. The quote was over $1000, so I filed that quote in file #13. I refuse to have a Firestone tire, after the fiasco my parents had with them years ago. They almost died from them blowing
You can get the Cooper Discoverer AT3 from DiscountTireDirect.com for $173 a piece. Free shipping and they have a $75 mail in rebate too. Just have to take them and get them mounted yourself.
That's how I buy all my tires especially since my wifes uncle has his own shop and he mounts them for me.
Isn't it crazy what they want for new tires these day's!
I just bought new tires for my 2004 2500 with 180,000 miles on it out of all the tires I have had on it I liked the BF goodrich's they were the longest lasting and quietest. 62,000 on them. my last ones were the terra grapplers they were pretty good just got loud at the end. went back to stock size in perelli they were on sale and still paid 800 with load rage E. only need about a year out of them. good luck. there goes you childs college fund!
