I wish I could say the same. The numbers of hours I have worked this year has increased a lot over last year, but my paycheck hasn't changed a cent. Like taking a pay cut just to keep my job. Gunboy keeps raggin me about taking time off, but if they give it to me, I'm gonna take it, cus they sure aren't compensating in my paycheck.

Did they have a natural gas explosion or something? That's about the only boom in FL you'll see for the next 5-10 years. Even the large companies like Lowes, have been effected in FL. I went to buy some thin wall sticks of irrigation pipe about a month ago since they had it on-sale in the newspaper for $.52 a stick. I got there on the second day of the sale and they only had 23 sticks left. I figured that they must have sold the 10-20, 50 stick bundles they used to keep on hand. I asked the manager if they had anymore or when more would be in and was told they only had 3 - 50 stick bundles delivered for the entire sale and no more was scheduled to be delivered to the store. The big companies aren't even able to keep inventory in stock, storage or in the warehouse due to cost and over head. Most work (construction trades) is government (fed, state, county, and city) work. Regular commericial job bids are being released and awarded at either labor only prices or for below operating cost. Our sister company in GA just started feeling the recession which hit FL in OCt 2008 about six months ago. We are in deep shart here man...

I just lost an $80,000.00 job from one of my regular customers. 800 sheets of drywall and almost 800 feet of firewall framing at an airport on the east coast. Also a lot of special fire caulking. The guys over there were half my price. And I even curbed a little of my regular pricing. I lost a house in Brooksville last month and I gave them people an almost labor cost for cash. He said he had a Mexican guy that was 1500 cheaper than me.It sucks,Mexicans get welfare, food stamps, full medical, and they don't have to pay taxes. I get F'd.
