I got an email from Thermacell with a $5 off rebate coupon:
http://www.thermacell.com/2010FathersDayRebate/2010FathersDayRebate.pdf
Now some of you might want to use it, that's why I linked to it. But for me, these kind of offers are a PIA! I mean, come on, why can't they just give us a coupon to use at checkout for $5 off? No, that's too easy. They want us to print a coupon, copy a receipt, cut out a bar code, pay for postage, then wait 2 months for a $5 check we then have to take to the bank to deposit. They do the rebate thing so they can look like they are offering a deal, but they know most folks won't follow-through with sending in the rebate, so they don't lose their $5/unit.
I wrote their customer service and said just that, and suggested they'd be more likely to sell more with a real coupon than some PIA rebate. I'm interested to see if I get a response.
That really does sound like a waste of time. they can keep the 5$ and shove it :clap
Well, this might turn into some good news for us all!
I got a reply from Thermacell, and they said there is an instant $5 off coupon code you can use if you order from their online store (plus you don't pay tax). So I mentioned the forum and how many of us use Thermacell, and asked if he knew where we could buy just the pads. He said you can order them direct from the company for $1.50 each at 781-541-6900, or if the order is for 1000 or more pads they can give a discount. I'm waiting now to see how much 1000 pads would cost. We might be able to get a "group buy" going and save us some money.
I'll keep y'all posted.
OK, Thermacell says for 1000 pads or more, their best price is $1000. So $1/ea, plus probably have shipping as well. But no tax since they are up in MA.
A group buy could be broken up several ways:
10 guys buying 100 each, 20 buying 50 each, 40 buying 25 each, or any combo that gets us to 1000 pads or more.
I'd be in to buy 50 pads. So anyone else interested, indicate in this thread and how many you would want.
Let's say a minimum of 20 per person to participate. Money would have to be paid up front, and if y'all trust me I'd be willing to handle everything, if not let's figure out who would be trusted to handle it to everyone's satisfaction and get it together as soon as possible. August archery season is gonna be a Thermacell mandatory situation!
good work
