The deputy that came by to make the report didn't seem very eager to do anything about it. He said it happens occasionally and difficult to solve as it usually doesn't get reported until days later. I took pictures of various tracks and sent it to them today (sent prints and a DVD). I called my neighbor and told him about it and he said it was first time anything like that happened in that area.

My wife and I are not so bummed out about loosing "stuff" to theft as it can be replaced but the act of vandalism is what bothers us... why did they destroy the vegetable garden and my son's flower bed?!?!?! I used to leave my son and wife there for 40-60 minutes while I drive over to the store to get stuff but I don't think I want to leave them there in future. I don't want to go out there and feel we have to be armed to be safe... we go out there to relax and enjoy being together.

We are going to spend this week to think about what we'll do in future.

More than likely punks who never worked for anything themselves. It is a shame but I wouldn't let them win by keeping you from your property or working it the way you see fit. Personally, I wouldn't worry about them showing up when somebody is on site, more then likely these are locals and they know when people are and aren't headed down that dead end road

sorry to hear it. and I was just contemplating chaining my game cart to the tree my tree stand is in. replacing those quick disconect pins with galvanized nuts and bolts will slow them down a bit and make them need tools and more time, but if they realy want it they will get it or vandalize it.

ATV's=locals
Shouldnt be too hard to track down. Especially with a good game cam pic that can ID a vehicle. Authorities will have to prosecute at that point. If not, call your senator. Sounds like you dealt with a lazy cop

That sucks big time! The vandalism tells me it was young'ns. It wasn't a theft thought but a party idea IMO. Allen is right. Set up a IR cam on the road in. They'll be back if it was kids. I would stiil relax while I was there but tell them to keep an open eye at all times. If they see someone is there I guarantee they haul azz like the puzzy's they are. The fact that they tore stuff up tells me they're a bunch of punks that wouldn't do anything in the daylight but are wanna be badazz's in the dark when no one is around. Don't give up on the family time or they win. JMHO

You are absolutely right...it is just a bunch of cowardly punks and the hidden camera will cure all if they come back as long as the boys in blue do their job and track the intruders down. My camp has been broken into twice with roughly the same story. I had signs made "Cameras on Premises and Trespassers with be prosecuted" posted at the end of the driveway leading to the camp + at the gate + in the windows of the camp and for the past 3 years we have not had a break-in. We leave the door unlocked as the first time they busted the door and the door frame to take a rake, shovel, 2 huge flashlights, and some magazines. Don't let this incident stop you from enjoying your lil piece of heaven or like someone else said....they will win. Take action and get the rats that did this.
