We went out to our property last Friday evening and noticed some tire tracks at the entrance road. This is first time I've seen tracks that didn't belong to my vehicle or my neighbor's. My property is at the end of a dead end road and my neighbor's entrance road is just before mine so there should not be any tracks in that part of the road as the neighbor has gone back North to his summer home.
As we drove up to the camp site I noticed more tracks. We got out and checked our site and found that someone had taken my son's wagon and knocked over (drive over) our two 55gal water barrels. Two screened shelter frames (we take the roof and screen back) were in pieces as if someone drive over them in a truck. They also drove over my wife's vegetable garden and my son's flower beds. Looked like someone just wanted to tear up the place with truck and ATV for fun. There were also new ashes in the fire ring/pit and some of the wood I had stacked were gone so I guess they enjoyed an evening of fire out there too.
In the morning I went out to check on the property some more and found that all 3 of my game camers that I had installed along the trail last time were gone along with my two fiberglass ladders. At the shooting range some of the tires and dirt I had put up as backstop were knocked down and all three target stands were destroyed and in pieces. There were truck and ATV tracks everywhere on the property. It looked like they knew we were not there and not coming for a while so they spent a lot of time there.
I went and checked on my neighbor's trailer and found everything there is okay. There is nothing to steal there as everything was put away in the trailer or stored at the storage before they went back. I did noticed some ATV tracks on the property near the trailer so I would not be surprised if they come back to break into the trailer.
I would not have been surprised if somebody stole some items from our place as that is the kind of society we live in now but I was surprised someone would come and vandalize the place. We spent all day Saturday picking up debris and fixing up what we could and then came back home.
I don't know what we can do to prevent it from happening again in future. We had planned to keep more stuff out there as time goes by but that's out of the question now. I may look into getting a 20' shipping container out there to lock up all the stuff but I'm sure they can be broken into too if they had the time.
We didn't enjoy this weekend out there.
That sucks! I hope you can find out who did it.
You need to take pics of tire tracks. Also go get another game cam and hide it conspicuously. Dont let them get you down. Its probably teens up to no good

The deputy that came by to make the report didn't seem very eager to do anything about it. He said it happens occasionally and difficult to solve as it usually doesn't get reported until days later. I took pictures of various tracks and sent it to them today (sent prints and a DVD). I called my neighbor and told him about it and he said it was first time anything like that happened in that area.
My wife and I are not so bummed out about loosing "stuff" to theft as it can be replaced but the act of vandalism is what bothers us... why did they destroy the vegetable garden and my son's flower bed?!?!?! I used to leave my son and wife there for 40-60 minutes while I drive over to the store to get stuff but I don't think I want to leave them there in future. I don't want to go out there and feel we have to be armed to be safe... we go out there to relax and enjoy being together.
We are going to spend this week to think about what we'll do in future.
That sucks big time! The vandalism tells me it was young'ns. It wasn't a theft thought but a party idea IMO. Allen is right. Set up a IR cam on the road in. They'll be back if it was kids. I would stiil relax while I was there but tell them to keep an open eye at all times. If they see someone is there I guarantee they haul azz like the puzzy's they are. The fact that they tore stuff up tells me they're a bunch of punks that wouldn't do anything in the daylight but are wanna be badazz's in the dark when no one is around. Don't give up on the family time or they win. JMHO
