My son and I honored the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001 by attending a ceremony sponsored by the Sun City Center Patriots Club. My son, a fine young man, was part of the JROTC honor guard members that presented the colors.

thoughts prayers and tears for those lost, their families and loved ones. I know I've been critical of the memorial taking so long but think the designer/architect really nailed it spot on. a void, just perfect and the steel beam cross fantastic. would like to see an area with a picture of the deceased, a few brief words and with a spot for loved ones to leave some kind of flowers/candles/badges or other tokens. and above all keep it free, no admission price to enter hallowed ground.
Nacho- I totally agree with you. The memorial 'park', including the new buildings are very appropriate! They speak of the memory, but also the refusal to be beaten down by the scum who caused the heartache. Did you know that the slant, or taper of the buildings are designed so that on every 9/11 the sun will shine right down into the pools at 8:46AM? The designers and architects did a very fine job. And all props to the construction teams who have worked with dedication.
My last comment is:

thanks, did not know about the sun shining down the hole thing. my wifes best freinds bro was flown in immed after the attack from Colo as he is one of a very few who operate a certain type of crane and has worked a ridiculous # of hours since and seen some horrible sights. all involved worked their butts off. the architect is not an American by birth either. kudos to all.

Not by birth BUT by choice!!! In the SyFy channel special, he repeatedly spoke of 'OUR' country! :clap
