Conventional oil is way better today than it was when the 3000 mile oil change was standard. Mandated standards are better. Big oil still wants you to use more. Really you can go 4000 to 5000 miles, and have no ill affects. I have a 1990 Chevy step 4x4 with 326,000 still running great. I did my changes every 5000 since it hit 150,000 or so. Figuring I would need new power at some point in the near future. That was 11 years ago. This truck pulls a trailer 5 days a week since 2001. Synthetic will not save you near term, or in the long haul.
Agree. I have never changed my oil in my truck at 3k. Always done it at 5k from day one
My son uses Mobil 1 in his Audi and swears by it. I've always used Castrol back as far as I can remember. I'm using the High Mileage Castrol GTX in all of my vehicles now. Seems to work just fine. You can pick it up at Walley World for a good price too. Way cheaper that at Advance Auto or Pep Boys.
Ive used synthetic since the truck was new.
MY 1994 Nissan Pathfinder changes itself and still runs great!Stick a quart in it once a month and goes anywhere I want it to go.
Thats funny. Seems like its allways got new oil! And old sludge!
