gotta love the Castle Doctrine, Here in florida you can shoot a fleeing criminal, because the rule of thought is you dont know if he is fleeing, or backing up to regroup and then resume attacking. I agree the shooter needs to spend some more time on the range or get a more lethal firearm/bullet. I wouldnt be surprised if he was carrying a .380 they just dont have the needed stopping power in my opinion. Which is why I carry a .45 well that, and becasue they dont make a .46 :gangsta :eek :eek

They do make a .50. Also I do ccw and do sometimes carry a 380 there is nothing wrong with a 380 only the person using it.There aint a person that can take all 8rds in the face, neck and chest out of my 380 and do anything but take a dirt nap.If you carry you must be proficiant with the firearm your carrying and must know and remember the #1 rule.SHOT PLACEMENT, rule #2 SHOT PLACEMENT, #3 correct ammo :rock_on

I agree :rock_on
Would have no problem shooting someone with my .25 auto

I agree you MUST be proficient with the firearm if you are going to carry concealed, for personal protection. Like any other tool, if you have only used it once or twice you will not be good enough to do what it is you need to with the tool.

I spent time on the Action Pistol, USPSA, and IDPA ranges before I got my CCW, I am a pretty good shot, able to put 10 rds in a 10" inch dia circle at 50yards, with my .45 S&W 1911. I am also able to put 20 rounds into a couple of silhouette targets, center mass, in under 7 seconds, including a mag change.

I go to the USPSA range every chance money, and time will allow. For me recently it has been about monthly now, with the ammo shortage. before it was once or twice a week. I practice drawing from concealed, hitting targets center mass, at various ranges, with several "NO-SHOOT" targets mixed into the fray. To keep my skills sharply honed.

even a .177 will kill, if used proficiently.

I wasn't sure if the castle docterine was in effect in michagan. as for stopping power, shot placement and bullet seection are more important than caliber size. I've seen some weird stuff when it comes to gsw's, one kid shot himself in the upper thigh with a 45 ( don't know what load ) the bullet traveled down thru the leg past the knee joint and exited the lower calf, missed all bones & important nerves, tendons, arteries and veins, and he was bearing partial wt on it with crutches in a few days. that leg should have come off at the knee with the propper bullet if he survived at all.
