Well I finally got a bit of a story from his daughter
Back up a couple years. He was having fainting spells when he would stand up. he would get light headed and hit the floor. He actually had one of these spells when driving and wrecked his truck. Long story short he had surgery to repair a 100% blockage in hos carotid artery. The problem went away after that surgery(which he almost died from).
Saturday when he came by, we were making plans for this weekends trip. We were even trying to get another old buddy of ours to go with us, as the three of us used to be the three amigos back in our public land hey-day.. He told me he was having these fainting spells again. He went to the VA, and they ordered whatever scan, and found blood clots in a vein/artery? leading to his brain. We even joked that if he lost brain cells, he aint lost nothin.
In the back of my mind, it scared the ever livin shitttt out of me as I worry about him with his health. We always make contact with each other when our hunt is over. I always feel my heart rate going up if I don't hear from him pretty close after dark as I think the worst. I always think something has happened and i gotta go find him hangin out of one of his stands. Sounds cruel, but these are the things I foresee.
When he told me he was having them again,I thought oh great....another weekend I can't relax for worrying about you. This summer he got a dizzy spell when we were hanging stand, and I basically had to hang all his stands for him as he about had a heat stroke (he also had a hear attack years back when I used to be his boss)
I talked to him yesterday mid day and all seemed ok. Next thing I know today his daughters are posting on FB that he is in ICU
Apparently he had a bad fainting spell yesterday evening that he didn't come back to from and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. he is in ICU according to his daughter but doing much better today. I am going to try to get hold of his wife tomorrow and get more info, but she barely speeks English(old man married to hot younger Spanish chick with fake boobs)
Sorry to be long winded, but he has been like an uncle to me,a nd we have spent a lot of time together over the years
Praying for him. Hope they get him fixed up.
