I've bought and sold dozens of guns. I have family heirlooms that aren't for sale at any cost, but plinkers and range guns I rarely keep unless it's one I REALLY like, like my Rossi .357, for a short barrel, light weight revolver, it stacks 125gr. JHPs in a two inch circle at thirty feet off hand.
I ordered the Hi Point out of curiosity mostly. I've had several .45s (Ruger, Charles Daley, Springfield Armory, a very old Colt 1911, and a "sporterized" Charles Daly) Never had any complaints about the guns and after a thousand rounds or so I could generally make up my mind if I wanted to keep it or not.
I'll let ya know my honest opinion on the gun, but Made In America with parts Manufactured In America, as it says on their website...even Ruger can't say that anymore. Thanks to everybody that's put in their two cents worth...I'm taking it all in. Anybody else got experennce or an opinion?
Lets forget about price for a minute.... Apples to apples, guys, why not the Hi Point?
There are a LOT of Ruger 9mm out there for sale gently used and new starting around $300. Check out floridaguntrader.com or one of the other local gun sites. I know that there's a big difference between a 45 and a 9, but if you're just using it for a range gun and a "just in case" PP gun, then I can't see where you can go wrong. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Never seen a Kahr, FLDXT, but I'm going to go now and look 'em up.
kahrs are nice, you can get them polymer lowers or all metal, they make a nice carry gun, available in .380, 9mm .40 and i think they have a .45 too.
For the price of the Kahrs, 3 X that of the Hi Point, I hope they are a good gun. I do like what their website says about them and they are surely a more attractive weapon than the Hi Point and not nearly as heavy according the gun specs. Looks like a fine gun; I might have to check one out in the not to distant future.
