As a matter of fact, I just did the process today at the Tampa office. Took less than half an hour from the minute I got there, filled the online application, fingerprints and photo. The total fee is $117 and covers License and fingerprint process. I used my hunters education certificate as training requirement.

If you have an office close to where you live, it is your best option as they'll make sure there are no errors. They said it will take 4 weeks to get my CWP by mail.

Is this a new record? Just got it today, 9 business days.... :clap :clap

Wow - it amazes how difficult some states make it. In Indiana, I went to the Sheriff, where they fingerprinted me, I filled out an application, and paid the $. A few weeks later I got my permit in the mail. When I renewed it Indiana had implemented a lifetime option. I filled out a form, paid the $, and never have to go back. No photos, no classes, nothing. Don't get me wrong, I think a class would be good idea, we just are not required to have one.
...and ours are a permit to carry a handgun, it does not have to be concealed, and you can be carried anywhere except certain gov't offices, riverboats, and the state fair.

I wish they didn't have to be concealed here. In Florida even if you can see the imprint of a gunin someones pocket you can get in trouble(forget the name they call it), it has to be completly concealed.
