i have a cj that i take to the woods if its not too far if its real far i take the ford. i prefer the jeep cause its 4wd plus its more fun in general to tool around in the woods with it. nothing fancy cj7 with a hard top. i also have a scrambler that is in hundreds of pieces just waiting for me to put it all back together.
Those Scramblers are cool. I rebuilt two of them, frame off restos, when I owned a small body shop up in the Panhandle. A car dealer I did work for bought them at the Pensacola auction and brought them to me. I got done repairing the rust and putting the engine back in, and got it road worthy, then drove it for about a week while I was waiting for new seats to come in from the upholstery guy. I wanted that thing so bad, I had a hard time finishing it up and giving it to the guy, and he wouldn't even talk about selling it. We took it out on Eglin reservation and had a blast! The second one I never got to drive. I tore it down, fixed the rust, painted the body and sent the rolling chassis to the guy building a 350 motor to put in it. I moved down here before I ever got to see it finished.

Reminds me of some places outside of Tucson, AZ where my dad used to take us 4-wheelin' in a Jeep Commando and then a Toyota Landcruiser back in the '70s (I was just a kid!).

Those pics were all taken when I lived in Las Vegas in 2007. I haven't taken any pics of the truck since then.

That's funny, I started to add Vegas as a possibility, mainly cause I thought the snow picture looked like Mt Charleston, but I saw some cholla cactus in another pic and couldn't remember seeing much of that out there. I was stationed at Nellis AFB for 6 months in late '88-early '89 and we'd go out north of the base or out off of E. Lake Mead Blvd. for off-roading and a little cap busting!
