i have not had knee surgery, and am not positive which dr would handle knees, but i have had 2 leg surgeries done by florida orthopaedic institute. first off i had a broken left femur ...long story short, they hammered a titanium rod down the center of my femur to repair a break. the next day they had me up and using a walker, and i was back to work 2 months later, as a chef. broke my ankle a couple years later bi malleaollar fracture....dr herscovici? spelling, handles from the knee to the foot, did my ankle reconstruction. they did the surgery at their surgery center near fletcher i75. i have a stainless plate on my right ankle with screw on the fibula, and a screw went in to fix my fibula. the ankle was much longer recovery time. find a dr you are comfortable with. my left knee gives me problems right where they put screws in to hold the titanium rod in place in my femur. but nothing i will go to a dr for. and like the guys say recovery, and physical therapy is what gets ya back up.

I let my Rn license expire and the last few times I was in the OR, I was the Pt, so I'll let the new dogs currently walking the boards give you the current info. I might just say don't worry until it's time to, and it may never come to that. an injury that old, if you were able to put wt on it when it happened and it never swelled to the point of needing to be drained, "probably" wasn't too serious (hopefully). having gravel in your joints, and falling down for no apparent reason, is normal when your an old fart. maybe you just have early onset old-fartism.

Any good ortho Dr. will know right off the bat if you need and ACL or MCL surgery without a MRI simply by a few twist of the knee. Sounds to me like you might have a few torn meniscus which can be repaired with ortho surgery. with good luck you'll be out and about in like 3-5 days.

Ok I'll still go back to my "Original diagnoses" Now Remember I didn't say that you would be hands and knees with a Knee kicker. But you will be able to walk around and point the finger.
