Oh what a mind numbing experience I had today!! I had jury duty. I sat around for 8 1/2 hours with nothing to do. I read some, tried talking a little. Even interviewed by a judge at 11am for a drug case. oops! Wrong guy for that case. back down stairs and waited until 5 pm and then was advised that a selected few would have to stay because one judge was having trouble seating a jury and we might be called for that. So "if your name is called you got to stay, all others can go home". Yup, I got to stay. I think I would rather go to the DENTIST than go through that again. I never minded putting "them" in jail but I will never want to judge them. WOW what an experience. :wacko

I had a similar scenario the one time I had it. Ironically, my wife had it the week before and was back home by 10AM. I got out of the court house around 8:30PM. Kinda turned my taste towards the system(in a way). In voir dire I told them I could not sit on a murder trial for over a week with my schedule. Wish I could have told them that 10 hours sooner.

I was summoned for jury duty on a Monday during last spring's turkey season. Unfortunately I was selected as a juror and was ordered to come back for the hearing the next day. Fortunately, Tuesday mid morning, the defendant chickened out and plea bargained before we went to trial. My gf already had plans to go to her parents to visit and possibly get out to the farm for a turkey hunt. I text my boss and explain to him that the trial is going to be drawn out and I won't be in the next day :angel

I'd like to thank that pos drug dealer for giving me my only opportunity to kill my spring gobbler.

Fortunately the latest I've had to stay was around 2pm. Either the juries got seated or the person charged copped a plea.
IMO we should face this as a necessary evil. If I ever had to face a jury (God forbid) I would hope it would be seated with many of the folks on this forum or like minded, rather than some liberal or person living off the system.
What kills me is when they ask if people should be excused, half of the room jumps up and gets in line (mostly young folks who look like they just got drug out of bed) and the older folks stay seated. I chuckle to myself everytime.
