If you care for a training book, try The care and training of the versatile hunting dog by Sigbot "Bodo" Winterhelt. A very world renowned trainer old school since 1930 Germany. It's an easy read that has ways to train for many different types of hunting. He has a real interesting history & it's worth googling him. I was lucky to be able to hunt over 2 of his bred & trained Pudelpointers. My buddy flew to California to buy a couple pups from him, they hit it off & he stayed at Bodo's ranch for like 6 weeks training the dogs with the master. They were steady to point & shot, never got too far ahead of you & checked back on you frequently for hand signals, would retrieve & release, holding the birds up to you on your left side & give them up without the tug of war so often found. The book also covers blood trailing etc.
