Well, ya got me stumped. Going from 240-380 after going on a strict diet, AND EXCERSIZE? you are certainly not the norm. BUT as I said everyone is not the same, and there could be something else going on. usually if we had lab results way off from what we expected, they would be re-done. I'm not saying it's not true, but certainly not what would be expected and way above my former pay grade to figure out why. Was the Doc surprised by those results? I don't have a ton of faith in lab results done 1 time. while anything is possible I would be suspicious of the validity of those tests, and wondering what could have caused them if they are correct. I take it you haven't had labs drawn at least twice a year until your abd surgery?

This is how it went. 4 years ago i had ins and got it checked. It the total was 280 doc basically called me saying i needed to come get a script for meds asap. So i got on meds and got it down to 140. Then i lost ins and was self pay. So a year later i was just off the meds. I decided since i couldn't afford the self pay anymore i would change my diet. So i basically cut out all seafood, red meat, eggs, and went lighter on cheeses, only drank water ( gave up my diet coke soda addiction) and started to push carbs away.

Then i got health ins again and went to the doc. I was sure it was going to be lower then the first 280 scare i had. (Different doctor) labs came back 384 tc. So he wasn't even scared, he just said get on meds and well check you in 3 months. In that time i ate normal all the foods i cut out and i ate regularly. Went for the blood work and it was 140 tc. Doc was happy.

My last doctor said that some people just have high cholesterol and need to be medicated to regulate it if its hereditary.

Just went to the dr for my blood work follow up.
I was a bit worried, because since I had been there, I had ballooned up real heavy, then lost a ton of weight..and since the holidays I have been putting it back on (wife is feeding me too much). I was expecting numbers to be thru the roof, blah blah blah, the usual
I was about shocked when I saw my numbers. Overall chol 122 (which is actually low) :clap
Triglycerides 131. Right in line.
Only thing elevated was my sugar which was 122.
BP was 120/80. Same exact numbers it was 15 months ago when I was in there.

Overall I am pleased with that, and they told me to keep on doing what I have been doing.
On that note I think I'll take out another pork ham
:tequila :bbq

I just went to my Dr this week and he showed me an app that searches the cheapest rx prices at the pharmacies in the area. Check out GoodRx on the Play or App store. Type in the drug and your zip code. One of my drugs was more than 50% cheaper than what I normally pay.
You might have to drive to a specific CVS or Walgreens pharmacy since prices can vary from store to store even in same chain, but it's worth it. I have ins and it's self pay until I meet the $2500 deductible. I'd rather use this app and print the coupon it gives you than just submitting it through ins and paying the higher prices.
