I take metformin and had the :crap: for a few days. It went away and I don't have any side effects. My wife tried to take it and she had :crap: :crap: :crap: :crap: bad. They can start you out on a lower dose and build you up to it. I take 500mg 2x a day

I take 1000mg once a day. its not only the :crap: :crap: :crap: :crap: its bad stomach cramps and felling like Im gonna :puke . been this way since last thursday
1000mg at one time is ridiculous. I can see why you have stomach cramps
metformin (Glucophage) is used to help control glucose for diabetics primarily. not normally (or ever that I've heard of) for cholesterol. but I've been retired a few years now.
