My wife was offered a new position in her company last week by the COO.
It's a higher position in different department with more responsibility but more pay and better benefits.
She would go from current position managing 5 professionals to managing 29 staff and 14 professionals.
She has the necessary knowledge, experience and qualification for the position and it is the next logical step for her profesionally. However, with the new position comes more hours, more stress, more BS and more office politics.
She's been thinking about it and we have been talking about it for a week but she still had not made up her mind.
As she left for work this morning she said she will make her decision by end of day. I personally don't care which way she decides as there are plus and minus either way.

This afternoon she called to tell me that she's going to decline the offer. She said she wants to spend her time with the family for few more years. She wants to be able to go to our kid's PTA meetings, ball games, volunteer at school, eat dinner together at night, read bedtime stories, etc. which would be difficult with the new position. She said she's young enough to get another shot at such position in few more years. She admited it was hard to turn it down.

Oh well, I was thinking about the extra money and the farm we saw over at Aracdia...

You just summed up my life

My wife works about 70 hours a week. We haven't had a family meal together on a week night in probably 2+ years. I am full time mister mom. It is almost 7Pm and she MAY be home before 9 tonight
Based on your post, and living it every day myself...she made the right choice

We are very fortunate in that we both work very sane hours.
My wife normally leave home at 7:30AM and gets home with the kid by 6:00PM.
I normally leave home with the kid at 8:00AM and get home at 7:30PM.
It's rare for us to work on weekends (about 4 time per year for me and about 8 for my wife) but once in a while one of us may have to work late... maybe until 10:00 or 11:00PM or go in early (about 5:30AM).
I take my kid to school (or summer camp) in the morning and my wife picks him up on the way home.
We both get 4 weeks off every year for vacation each year.
We try to spend as much time as we can as a family with our kid... before he grows up and hate being with us.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum guys. I snuck by the house about 10am today to grab a quick sandwich only to find my stay at home ol lady laying in bed eating bon bons while the washer was running. The only hard decision I had today was if I was gonna wake up my college student step son to remind him that the rest of the world was at work at 10am. Congrats kc on the wife choosing family 1st. It says alot.
