i think my best friend's wife used to work for the City of Lakeland water treatment plant there off Lakeland Highlands and Edgewood.
I'll see what she knows. I think now-a-days she is one of the people running this group: http://www.le-ad.org/If she has any info I'll get you her number, and see if she can give you a heads up on working at that job, or even some kind of recommendation.
:rockon Much appreciated, boss!
As long as you know the basics of weighing, dispensing, and titrations I'd imagine you'd be okay. I was a lab tech for 2-3 months and decided I wanted in planning/engineering.
I have no clue what florida requires for licensing of wastewater employees, but thats nothing a few classes and tests can't take care of..
spent 3 years in industrial waste water treatment facility, great $$ but got bored with it (was to young at the time for a job like that, now it would have worked out better)
find out with class requirements there are for that type of position and try to find a book or online book about it.
then the rest is just learning on the job as to what chemicals are used for what and what the the ph and ppm levels are for a specific fluid.
good luck, I know that person I replaced at the industrial WW treatment level went on to work for a city WW treatment facility and about doubled their yearly salary.

Yeah, I'm good on that stuff. Also ran an ion chromatography machine, learning high pressure liquid chromatography now. Ran chlorine and other chemical injection systems. This distillery is a pretty cool job but they have me working 70-80 hours a week right now on night shift. Which would be fine for a short period, but they are talking about doing it for the next 2-3+ months. Not my thing, I need some time to drink beer, go fishing, and catch some hogs. Maybe see the old lady once or twice a week too.
We had a slow night the other day, we mixed up a small batch of cucumber and parsley flavored 6x distilled vodka at 100 proof to use in bloody marys. Also made a peach bourbon. :tequila :toast
You sound like "Tickle, the QA guy"
