I'm by no means an expert weve both been shooting along time. a few things I will reinforce is: have a good solid gun mount to shoulder and cheek weld to stock , but don't squeeze the gun to death, keep the non trigger hand off the barrel, keep it under the rear stock and use it for elevation by making a fist or relaxing the fist, focus concentrate and follow though keep looking at the target thru the the scope after the shot for a few seconds, do not try to stop the crosshairs from moving it's impossible " trust your wobble ", with that caliber use ear plugs and ear muffs, bring a 22 long rifle along and when you need to " settle down " use the 22 until you get your form back and "are in the zone" again the minute you start to flinch go back to the 22, shoot at the center of the bull each shot and don't compesate by holding high or low. your initial goal is to get good group size then you can adjust the scope, for the kind of stand shooting you mentioned I'd recomend about 1 1/2" high at 100 should put you pretty much on at 200 and app 3-6" low at 300 depending on load and bbl length. good luck thats my 2 cents. I'm sure theres better shots than me out there that will tell you different, but thats how i do it. good luck. I'm going for lap band surg tommorow and may be outa commission for a while, but would like to shoot with you asap.

You reckon I could put some of that foam insulation spray in the butt stock to absorb any recoil? I would use the low expanding type if I did. Still gotta get one more for my son, been looking, missed a great deal on a .270 yesterday.
