Turns out being that the coils were completely compacted with dust from 10 years. He cleaned them with a brush and vacuum, and seems to be working ok

Yeah I felt kinda silly, but at least I know. He also solved the mystery of why the in-door water dispenser wasn't working so it was kind of worth it

I have that problem. The water just stopped one day don't know why? So what was the problem.

Yea years ago my house ac was not working The ac guy cleaned the coil on the out side got if working some what then gave it some refrigerant and it was good for a couple of years after that. That unit was at least 15 years old.

He said its a known problem with GE fridges. Where the water tubing is at in the door does not have enough insulation and gets too cold, allowing the water line to freeze. They make an after market heater that goes in there to keep it from freezing. He is ordering one for me
