I did that during muzzleloader season in Indiana....thankfully I was in a permanent stand and I could just climb down and snatch them real quick....it was early morning and cold as hell, so I figured I'd see game so I sat there and froze for a good hour before I gave in and climbed down and grabbed the gloves.

Dropped ALL the shells out of my pre-64 Model 70, and I was 30' up in a climber. Damn magazine release on the bottom wouldn't open when I wanted it to, but it'll sure open up if I happened to brush it against my coat. Also have dropped gloves, hats, coat, and the worst...climber knobs on my Tree Lounge (thank God I always have extras in my pocket, or I'd probably still be there).

But I didn't even have one chambered. Had never ever not even once had to go back to camp to get more ammo, especially since camp is only like 150 yards from my stand. It didn't help that every single flippin time this happened, there was more than a foot of snow on the ground. I haven't taken a metal detector back there, but unless my gramps picked up the shells after the spring thaw, there are at least 4 rounds still around the bottom of the tree someplace, cus I never found them.
